Many people ask... "It looks amazing! How did you get it on the first pass?" As you can imagine, after 20 years in design I have done everything from brainstorming sessions to final revisions and production management. My process for web design is based on these years of experience and an ability to understand what people want, even when they can't "put their finger on it."
I may be letting the mysterious secret out of the bag, but it is as easy as Listen, Understand and Build.
The most important step is to ask questions and listen. People will tell you want they want, but you have to listen to them (this works for me in every facet of life.)
This generally leads to a design sketch from the client's notes or from a graphic designer who already has a design layout from other marketing materials.
Research and Understand the target consumers, so the website connects with and serves them on a personal level.
I am an avid woodworker and I follow the "Measure twice, cut once" principal. Based on the information from Steps 1 and 2, the web site construction is precise and methodical. After the build, revisions are generally small since the details were clearly defined in the initial meeting.
The goal is a functional site and exceeds the basic criteria step 1 with the addition of information discovered in Step 2. My success is measured by meeting the client's needs and is more important than "Utopian design".
Success is Measured By:
I have demonstrated my expertise in creative direction, while maintaining exemplary standards of client service and satisfaction. I pride myself on my in-depth knowledge of the design and creative processes I am associated with, and utilize this in the creation of successful high-level plans, objectives and development strategies.
